Every asset class has a workable route.
Council Housing
Rooftop solar across housing stock with tenant benefit built in, delivered through structures that protect the authority and its tenants alike.
Leisure Centres & Pools
Among the most energy-intensive buildings any council owns, with demand profiles that suit solar and storage almost perfectly.
Offices & Civic Buildings
Daytime-occupied buildings where generation displaces consumption directly and supports EPC and net zero commitments.
Depots & Operational Sites
Large roofs, fleet charging demand and growing electrification make depots a natural early phase of any programme.
Car Parks
Solar carports turn surface car parks into generating assets, paired with public EV charging where footfall justifies it.
Schools & Community Assets
Grant-supported installations that cut running costs for the buildings communities depend on most.
Solar on housing stock, with tenants better off from day one.
Solar on council and housing association stock has historically stalled on three questions: who pays for it, how tenants benefit fairly, and how the organisation is protected from billing and payment risk. We have developed a pay-per-use model designed to answer all three.
In outline: the systems can be funded without capital from the authority, tenants receive cheaper electricity from the solar their roof generates, and the structure is designed around payment security, compliance and lender requirements from the outset. Surplus generation can be put to work across the wider estate rather than lost.
The result is a proposition that stacks up for the authority's finance team, its housing team and its tenants at the same time, which is precisely why generic solar offers to councils so often fail: they only ever satisfy one of the three.
The full structure, metering approach and commercial terms are shared under discussion rather than published here. If you hold a housing, energy or asset portfolio brief, we would welcome the conversation.
Built for how the public sector actually buys.
Beaumanoir Ltd leads the consultancy side: feasibility across the estate, business cases written for members and section 151 officers, grant funding strategy and applications, advice on PPA and funding structures, planning support where schemes require it, and director-led client-side oversight through delivery.
The team's background includes board-level delivery on developments exceeding ยฃ1 billion GDV and direct experience of grant-funded and publicly funded programmes, so reports, governance papers and evidence packs arrive in a form officers can take through their own processes without rework.
We are equally comfortable starting small: a single leisure centre feasibility, one depot, a pilot street of housing. Programmes that work tend to start with one asset that proves the numbers.
From portfolio to programme.
Portfolio Review
Desktop assessment across the estate identifying the assets where solar genuinely stacks up first.
Feasibility & Business Case
Detailed feasibility on priority assets, with business cases written for internal governance and funding routes mapped.
Funding & Structure
Grant applications prepared where schemes are live, and PPA or zero-capital structures developed where they fit.
Approvals
Planning, DNO applications and stakeholder engagement handled alongside your own governance timetable.
Delivery Oversight & Reporting
Client-side oversight of the contractors you appoint, with the monitoring and reporting your climate commitments require.
Where Beau Energy, our own installation division, is the right delivery route, we will say so and disclose that relationship in writing. You remain free to tender the installation elsewhere, and our advice is not conditional on you using Beau Energy.
Start with one asset.
Whether you hold an energy, housing, asset or climate brief, the easiest starting point is a short conversation about one building or one street. We will show you the numbers and the structure, and you can judge both.
